[Internal] Video: Upload to JW Player

Introduction
Uploading a video to the Management Console requires two steps. This guide covers the first one: step-by-step instructions for uploading a video to the JW Player. For step two, refer to the Video: Transfer from JW Player to the Management Console support guide.

Upload the Client Video

1) Retrieve the client video and download it to your local machine.

NOTE: Most videos are sent via Dropbox or Google Drive.

2) Log into JW Player. The home page appears.

3) Click Upload.
4) Drag the video file from your local machine to JW Player or click select a file and navigate to the file to upload.

5) When the upload is finished, it will display Upload complete.

6) Click Open a new tab.

7) The uploaded video appears in Recent Videos list.

Naming the Video

8) Click on Video in the Recent Videos list.
9) Scroll down the page to the Metadata section.

10) Enter a title for the video in the Title textbox. The video title should follow these guidelines:
  1. Use this format: <Client Name> - <Video Title>. For example: Comevo - Nudge Webinar.
  2. No parentheses

NOTE: Generally, the client will provide a name for the video. If they don't, or if the current video name doesn't make sense, clarify with the client what they would like the video to be called. E.g., XMRsx2020.mp4 vs presidents_welcome.mp4.

11) Add a tag of the client's handle (i.e., org unit) in the Add a tag textbox (e.g., sandbox).

12) Click Add.

13) In the top right of the page click Save.

14) Evaluate the thumbnail of the video. If the thumbnail needs to be updated, refer to the Video Thumbnail: Improve support guide.

NOTE: A video thumbnail is a reduced-size image of one of the frames in a video. It is designed to help users quickly scan a list of videos and get a visual clue about what's on the video. The thumbnail image should be a clear, good looking image. If a clear, high-quality thumbnail cannot be generated from the frames in the video, reach out to the client and ask them for a preferred image.

 15) If the video requires captioning, refer to the Video: Upload a Closed Captioning File and Preview it support guide.
 16) To transfer this video to the Management Console, refer to the Video: Transfer from JW Player to the Management Console support guide.
